This case highlights the critical importance of advanced surgical intervention when managing severe intraoperative complications.
A patient presented with a displaced and neglected mandibular fracture of 20 days' duration, occurring at an outside facility during dental implant placement in the posterior mandible. Examination revealed hard swelling, mobile/displaced bone segments, and a severely atrophic mandibular ridge, vastly increasing the complexity of the case.
An Open Reduction and Internal Fixation (ORIF) was successfully executed under general anesthesia:
The patient is recovering exceptionally well with stable occlusion, resolving swelling, and zero neurological deficits.
Kudos to the surgical team for turning a highly compromised situation into a successful, life-altering recovery!
